In his riveting new book, The Art of Learning, Waitzkin tells his remarkable story of personal achievement and shares the principles of learning and performance that have propelled him to the top--twice. Josh Waitzkin knows what it means to be at the top of his game. A public figure since winning his first National Chess Championship at the age of nine, Waitzkin was catapulted into a media whirlwind as a teenager when his father's book Searching for Bobby Fischer was made into a major motion picture. After dominating the scholastic chess world for ten years, Waitzkin expanded his horizons, taking on the martial art Tai Chi Chuan and ultimately earning the title of World Champion. How was he able to reach the pinnacle of two disciplines that on the surface seem so different? "I've come to realize that what I am best at is not Tai Chi, and it is not chess," he says. "What I am best at is the art of learning." With a narrative that combines heart-stopping martial arts wars and tense chess face-offs with life lessons that speak to all of us, The Art of Learning takes readers through Waitzkin's unique journey to excellence. He explains in clear detail how a well-thought-out, principled approach to learning is what separates success from failure. Waitzkin believes that achievement, even at the championship level, is a function of a lifestyle that fuels a creative, resilient growth process. Rather than focusing on climactic wins, Waitzkin reveals the inner workings of his everyday method, from systematically triggering intuitive breakthroughs, to honing techniques into states of remarkable potency, to mastering the art of performance psychology. Through his own example, Waitzkin explains how to embrace defeat and make mistakes work for you. Does your opponent make you angry? Waitzkin describes how to channel emotions into creative fuel. As he explains it, obstacles are not obstacles but challenges to overcome, to spur the growth process by turning weaknesses into strengths. He illustrates the exact routines that he has used in all of his competitions, whether mental or physical, so that you too can achieve your peak performance zone in any competitive or professional circumstance. In stories ranging from his early years taking on chess hustlers as a seven year old in New York City's Washington Square Park, to dealing with the pressures of having a film made about his life, to International Chess Championships in India, Hungary, and Brazil, to gripping battles against powerhouse fighters in Taiwan in the Push Hands World Championships, The Art of Learning encapsulates an extraordinary competitor's life lessons in a page-turning narrative.Binding Type: Paperback

DO NOT BUY! IT BREAKS EASILY.
Size: Max Size
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! The first time I bought this product it broke within a couple of weeks. The conveyor belt stopped spinning making the unit unusable. The second one I bought broke within the first hour. Again the conveyor belt but this time it would spin uncontrollably even when the unit was turned off. We used the balls included in the packaging and with supervision which is recommended in the product pamphlet. I tried to reach out to All For Paws but was unable to locate a working customer service number. For the price it should continue to work without issue. Very disappointing.

Your dog Might Not Be as Excited as You Are
Size: Max Size
It arrived and worked as expected. Throws a good distance, not loud & easy to use. However, my rescue Belgian Shepherd (24/7 ball dog) was totally scared of it. Work with her for a week but she would literally avoid even being in the same room. Being she is rescue you never know what happen to them in the past. Moral of the story, just bc you have a full-on ball dog doesn’t mean they will be excited as you are. Unfortunately had to return.

Inside winter fun ball launcher
Size: Max Size
Bought this for our three dogs to play with in the winter as Houston is typically cold and rainy and limits outside play, this will be our new winter indoor activity. We are still in the learning process of putting the ball back in the launcher, we have only played with it a handful of times at most and they retrieve the balls back to the launcher but haven’t consistently put it back IN the launcher when there is a human at the launcher to do it for them. As we play with it more I know they will catch the concept along with the balls. Love that the product has three launching distances, indoor I’m using the short distance. Having 6 balls is also great, right now they are launching and rolling under the Christmas tree and my newly tri-pod dog cannot go under to get them. The ball launcher is super easy to use, I didn’t even have to look at the instructions. The design is nice and it is built very well. This launcher was a bit pricier than others but it had the best reviews. I used Amazon coupons, rewards and a gift cards and got it for zero dollars. Overall, I’m very happy with this product and the dogs have allot of fun with it and get excited when I bring it out. I have not had any problems with this product, the only slight thing to mention is that once about every 10 or more balls the launcher throws the next ball up will just sit, a little nudge from me or a dog will get that ball launching again. I have nudgers so this isn’t going to be a thing. We love this product and give it 10 of 10 stars. Should something happen I would buy this launcher all over again. May even consider as a gift for a family member with 7 dogs.
